Roblox just announced a major change aimed at younger users, which could reshape how kids experience the popular gaming platform. Essentially, the company rolled out two new age-based account types: Roblox Kids for children ages 5 to 8 and Roblox Select for users 9 to 15.

Roblox has introduced changes to its child safety system, including tech that estimates users' ages and settings that limit access to certain features based on age.

As part of the new age groupings, Kids accounts will have platform chat turned off by default, and access will be limited to games with a Minimal or Mild content maturity label.
