It turns out that testing the spindle motor on a fadal without it attached to the spindle is actually kinda hard! The machine has a hall effect sensor on the top of the spindle itself and if it doesn't see that turn on/off at least every three seconds while the spindle is active it assumes there's a fault and shuts down the spindle drive.. so here's my ghetto solution: a hand drill attached to a tool holder driving the spindle so the machine sees the sensor and will let me run the motor for test

I've spent the last few days working on the programming for the handle scales, looking good so far! Seems like I'm going to end up totally 3D milling the handle scales now because it lets me bake in a lot of little things like corner radiuses that would be inconsistent if done by hand. Here you can see the CNC machining the edges of the handle scales with a 1/2" ballnose endmill. It's been a bit challenging to get this work right because my machine has fairly limited memory and 3D surfacing gene
